ARMY side Black Rhinos go into the semi-finals of the Chibuku Super Cup this afternoon as underdogs in the clash against Ngezi Platinum Stars but they are happy to carry the tag.

Coach Saul Chaminuka is confident that his side can go all the way and win the Chibuku Super Cup silverware.

In their last meeting in the league, Black Rhinos fell to Ngezi Platinum, but have not lost their last four matches after that defeat, picking up two victories and playing two draws.

“I am very optimistic that we could go all the way for gold, not just to the final,” Chaminuka said.

“At Black Rhinos, we no longer kick and rush, we pass the ball. We always try to create opportunities.

“We don’t want opportunities that come by luck. There is no such thing in football today. You have to create opportunities. And if you are going to create opportunities it means you have to have the ball and I think the boys are doing just that.”

About the club’s recent show in the league where they defeated reigning champions FC Platinum and ZPC Kariba and drew with Green Fuel and Chicken Inn, the soft-spoken Chaminuka said: “It goes to show the character that is now in the team. They have gotten into a stage where they know that results will only come through hard work, teamwork and brotherhood.”

They dumped Chicken Inn out of the Chibuku Super Cup to reach the quarter-finals.

Rhinos have in their squad Lot Chiunga, Evans Katema and Valentine Katsande who can power the soldiers to the final of the prestigious Chibuku Super Cup final.

But Ngezi Platinum Stars, who are eyeing a cup double at the end of the season, will not let hand the army-side victory on a silver platter.

They accounted for Triangle to book a quarter-final berth before riding over Herentals to set themselves for the semi-final clash against Black Rhinos today.

They boast of the likes of their leading scorer Takunda Benhura and Qadr Amini in their fold.
