MANICA Diamonds kept pressure on log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars with a narrow win over Simba Bhora at Gibbo Stadium yesterday.
Gerald Bero converted from the penalty spot in the 41st minute after Fortune Binzi had been brought down inside the box.
The victory moved the home side back into second position with 53 points, seven behind log leaders Ngezi Platinum Stars who moved an inch closer to the title after beating Sheasham yesterday. The Mhondor- based side now needs one win from the remaining three games to clinch its first-ever league title.
Simba Bhora remain on ninth position with 39 points.
Victorious coach Jairosi Tapera admitted that it is nearly impossible to catch up with Ngezi Platinum Stars who have one hand on the league title, but vowed to push them all the way. He is targeting a strong finish for his team, which in all honest, has punched way above its weight.
Simba Bhora coach Tonderai Ndiraya was disappointed with the manner his side conceded the penalty, which was the team's second in two games.

He also heaped praise on Manica goalkeeper Geoffrey Chitsumba who made a string of good saves, especially in the first half to deny Tinashe Balakasi and Tymon Machope, twice.
