SPECTATORS at Luveve Stadium were treated to a 20-minute circus as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer match between Arenel Movers and Herentals was stopped after 14 minutes due to the withdrawal of the Zimbabwe Republic Police from providing security services.

Police officers showed up for the match but are said to have left the stadium protesting over outstanding payments by new boys Arenel for a previous match played at the same venue.

The law enforcement agents, however, returned to the stadium and play resumed with the teams deadlocked at 0-0.

Arenel were on fire after resumption with Timothy January and Grey Kufanda wreaking havoc in front, but they would not get the desired goals.

They dominated the second half as well with the visitors getting a fair chance of scoring opportunities but at the end of the day it ended goalless.

Arenel coach Farai Tawachera admitted that his team threw everything at Herental but could not score.

“We tried everything. We tried to create chances, but we could not get the ball over the line,” he said.

Herentals coach Celestino Benza said his charges played well and he was happy with the draw.

“For us it’s a point gained considering that we managed a nil-all draw. The last game we conceded two goals and for us a clean sheet away from home is positive, so we are happy with the draw,” Benza.
