Sisale unveils ambitious PSL vision

Sisale, who assumed the chairmanship of four-time league winners FC Platinum last year, succeeding Smartfin Techu, has pledged a transformative tenure for the PSL if elected into office on July 25.

ASPIRING Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairperson, Dumisani Sisale, seeks to elevate the local league to the stature of a high-level commercial entity, drawing comparisons to regional powerhouses like the South African Betway Premiership.

The FC Platinum chairperson is one of three individuals seeking the PSL chairmanship. His fellow contenders are Simba Bhora’s chairperson, Isaiah Mupfurutsa, and Manica Diamonds boss Masimba Chihowa.

Sisale, who assumed the chairmanship of four-time league winners FC Platinum last year, succeeding Smartfin Techu, has pledged a transformative tenure for the PSL if elected into office on July 25.

"I'm motivated to serve my country and football in particular. I have also served in the PSL board of governors under different leaders and have learnt from their experience. And I would like to contribute my experience to the growth of PSL and football in general. So my vision is to work with fellow governors and turn the PSL into a cash-positive entity to implement its projects, including the construction of the offices on the land we acquired," he said.

"I would like to come up with strategies towards increasing revenue streams by bringing more partners on board while we also consolidate and strengthen relationships with current sponsors, Castle Lager and Delta Beverages.

"Also, we would like to motivate periodic cash disbursements to clubs at agreed milestones to increase competitiveness and cushion cash flows for clubs," Sisale said.

Should Sisale emerge victorious, he will fill the vacancy left by former Caps United president Farai Jere, who stepped down last year.

The upcoming polls will determine the new PSL board, which will comprise the chairperson, vice-chairperson, and three executive committee members.

Concurrently, the Zimbabwe Women Premier Soccer League (ZWPSL) elections will also take place, where a new chairperson, vice-chairperson, and five board members will be elected.

The PSL and ZWPSL chairpersons hold seats on the Zifa board, which is currently led by business executive Nqobile Magwizi.
