BOTSWANA be-Mobile Premiership champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs are set to offer coach Madinda Ndlovu a new contract after the former Highlanders and Warriors boss completed back to back title wins last month.

His two year deal expires on June 30 but the side’s spokesperson Clifford Mogomotsi yesterday said by the end of the week they will have sorted out contractual issues with the coach.

“We want to give it ample time but so far so good. He (Ndlovu) has done well. We will be meeting with him this week and sort out his contractual issues.

The results speak louder than words. He has achieved what we wanted him to — winning the league back-to-back. By the end of next week, you will know. I don’t want to pre-empt what the discussions will be but he has done us proud. We have won the league back-to-back and have taken part in the Champions Leagues. It has been a humbling experience,” Mogomotsi said.

Mochudi enter into talks with Ndlovu with speculation rife in Botswana that the coach was likely to lose his job at Mochudi to Botswana Meat Commission (BMC)’s Daniel Nare with the grapevine also linking the coach to former champions Township Rollers.

Last week, Ndlovu was quoted in the Botswana media saying: “I decided not to comment on the things which were being said about me in the media because I wanted to focus on my job.

“I was asked to come and win the championship. I have delivered and what makes it more exciting is that I’ve won the title back to back. That’s a huge achievement for me because whether I’m staying or not it will remain in the history books.

“Nobody has come forward to tell me that I’m a bad coach. I think a coach is judged by his achievements and the results are there to argue my case. Sir Alex Ferguson is respected worldwide by the number of League titles he has won (in England with Manchester United). Let me make it clear that I did not come here to make friends, but to do my job. If Chiefs feel that I should continue or not with the team, it’s entirely their choice. Up to now, they have not said anything about my future which means it might be the end of our road.”

He had Zimbabwe players captain Arnold Chaka and Elvis Meleka at Mochudi.

Ndlovu won the 2012-13 be-Mobile Premiership with three matches to go after losing top striker Joel Mogorosi to Bloemfontein Celtic of South Africa at the outset of the season in July last year and lost three of his top players, the Zebras trio of Jerome Ramatlhakwana, Phenyo Mongala and Dirang Moloi to DRC’s TP Mazembe with six games to go to the end of the season.

Ndlovu dedicated his beMobile double to his late brother Adam, who died in a ghastly car crash near Victoria Falls last December.
