SDT is a locally-based organisation working towards the socioeconomic transformation of the people of Siabuwa in Binga.

To date the organisation has managed to enlist support from international partners, which has thus enabled the project to commence.

SDT management, however, said it was not in a position to disclose  the investments so far although it had secured funding for energy, infrastructure and construction projects.

“We are currently awaiting government approval,” an SDT official speaking on condition of anonymity, said.

The project will focus on the industrialisation programme aimed at creating employment for people in the local community and new business opportunities for Zimbabwean companies.

In the implementation of the project SDT has joined ranks with Zimbabwe Housing Consortium another locally- based housing concern entity.

The envisaged development of the new town will include construction of roads, an airport, commercial centres, houses, industrial shells, rail systems and the development of information and communication technologies.

SDT is in the process of calling for registered partners and suppliers to implement the project.
