Three of the pupils did not attend a disciplinary hearing at the school yesterday and the headmaster, Misheck Ngwenya, said he gave them up to Friday to do so, if they did not, the Provincial Education Director, Dan Moyo will decide their fate.

Matabeleland South police said pupils from the school aged between 16 and 17 reportedly stole seven mobile phones, including Blackberry, Samsung and Nokia models, worth $2 135 during a rugby tournament at Esigodini.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Philisani Ndebele had said all the phones were recovered and investigations were still in progress.

Ngwenya said the school’s disciplinary committee was going to hand over a full report of the incident to Moyo, who was going to decide what has to be done.

“The final decision will come from the PED, but we have not yet expelled anyone, we have suspended one of the boys,” he said. “We have not seen the other three boys and we will wait for them until Friday before our disciplinary committee compiles the final report to be handed over to Moyo.”

Ngwenya said the school did not tolerate criminal conduct and they were going to make an application to the ministry to decide the future of those pupils in the school.
