Regional traffic safety manager Barbra Mpofu said the competition would start from the TSCZ offices at Fort Street, between Connaught Avenue and Masotsha Ndlovu Avenue in the city, with drivers writing a test followed by a practical skills competition at Birkenhead Terminus in Belmont.
The drivers will conclude the competition with a road test in the city centre to prove their knowledge of road safety rules.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony around midday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
Mpofu said a number of drivers from different companies across the Matabeleland region would participate in the two-day annual competition.
“Sixty drivers from 17 companies in the Matabeleland region will participate in the competition selected from rigid truck drivers, articulate truck drivers and bus drivers,” Mpofu said.
The drivers should have a minimum of five years driving experience and a valid defensive driving licence.
