After the inter-schools competitions the action will continue next week as Mzingwane High school will play hosts to the inter-cluster competitions where the district team will be selected.

Mzingwane High School sports director Siphephile Ndlovu said: “We are preparing for the inter-schools competition set for Friday. There are possibilities that we might host them as the cluster has proposed to change the venue from Mawabeni. We do not know the venue yet, but if there are no changes we are going to Mawabeni,” Ndlovu said.

Mzingwane are in Cluster B together with Mawabeni, Mvuthu and Sikhoveni. Sihlengeni High who are in Cluster A will compete with Falcon College, How Mine and Bayethe at How Mine on the same day.

Falcon College is one of the schools that have been producing competitive athletes for the district and Matabeleland South province. Sihlengeni has also produced good athletes for the region, but often struggle to expose them due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, Gwanda North and South provinces are also having their inter-schools competitions on Friday.

They will also have their inter-clusters competitions next week on Friday as they prepare for the inter-district competitions slated for Dombodema High School in Plumtree from March 5-7.

Stanmore Secondary School will host Mzimuni, Nkwidzi, Nyandeni, Nkashe, Simon Khaya-Moyo, Gwanda Government School, Colleen Bawn and Gwanda High for the Gwanda North B inter-schools completion.

Mtshabezi, Sitezi, Sibhula, Lishangwe, Mangwe and Simbumbumbu all travel to Sabiwa on Friday for the Gwanda North A inter-schools competitions.

The two clusters, Gwanda North A and B will clash a week later at Sabiwa to form a district team.
