The elections will be held after the amateur golfers from BGC, Bulawayo Country Club (BCC) and Harry Allen play their first game for the 2014 to 2015 season.

Outgoing vice-captain and competition convener Kwangwari Kwangwari confirmed the elections and the start of the season to Southern Eye Sport.

“We are going to hold elections for all the Mbada Golf Society posts at Bulawayo Golf Club on April 27. The three-year term of office is up. So far we do not have any names of those interested in taking up the positions. As for me, I am not seeking re-election because my aim is to win the green jacket,” he said.

The Mbada Golf Society is a competition that is played over a year with participants accumulating points at the end of each game.

The golfer who comes on top of the final order of merit becomes the champion and wins the green jacket.

The outgoing executive consists of Brian Sanangurai (president), Alexio Paradzai (vice-president), Munyaradzi Nzarayapenga (secretary) while Chenge Chivonivoni has been the vice-secretary.

Reigning Mbada champion Wishes Nyoni has been the treasurer deputised by Margaret Vera while Tonderai Gavu and Kwangwari have been the captain and vice-captain respectively.

Nyoni emerged the overall winner of the 2013 to 2014 Mbada Golf Society tournament after coming on top of the final order of merit in the competition that ended at Harry Allen Golf Club on March 30 which saw golfers featuring in 15 games.

He accumulated 87,5 points getting the green jacket and a trophy from Joseph Mushaka who was the defending champion.

Mushaka won the 2012 to 2013 title in March last year after he finished the competition with 59,5 points. However, Mushaka was the runner-up after collecting 58 points in the contest, Crispen Magosvongwe was third with 55,5 points.

Magosvongwe scooped another prize after winning the champion of champions award.

He won the award after emerging with the best net on the last day of the competition that featured the tournament’s top 10 players.

The Mbada Golf Society games were played at Harry Allen, BCC, BGC and Hillside Golf Club throughout the year.

Two games were played at Tantebane Golf Course in Botswana in December last year.
