A 22-YEAR-OLD Victoria Falls woman on Tuesday allegedly cut her eight-month-old baby’s throat after stabbing her several times, in an incident that has become the talk of the resort town. Nokuthaba Dlamini Own Correspondent
Police yesterday confirmed arresting Luison Gurajena Siziba and said she will appear in court soon charged with murder.
“We confirm that we are holding Louislon Gurajena Siziba who is helping us in connection with the alleged murder of an infant and she is helping us with inquires. She is set to appear in court soon,” police officer commanding Victoria Falls superintendent Jairos Chiwona, said.
According to sources, Siziba on Tuesday visited her grandmother who was at BH124 under Chief Mvuthu just outside the resort town.
She found a 11-year-old girl doing laundry at the homestead and asked for an axe.
Siziba allegedly ordered the girl to leave before she tried to strike her child with the axe.
“She first tried to axe the infant but as she was trying to lift the axe, it separated from the handle,” the source said.

“She then rushed to the kitchen where she got a butcher’s knife and proceeded to stab the baby before beheading her.”
The girl reportedly heard the baby screaming in pain and tried to investigate.
“She saw the mother repeatedly stabbing her baby,” the source said.
“She quickly ran to report to her grandmother who then came rushing with the other neighbours and found Siziba trying to stab herself too. The baby had already died after suffering multiple stab wounds and the child’s head had been decapitated.”
Villagers who spoke to Siziba before she was whisked away by the police said she told them she killed her baby because the child’s father was not supportive.
Siziba reportedly said she had intended to commit suicide after killing the baby.
She told the villagers the baby’s father was a Knowledge Ncube who is based in South Africa.
Ncube was reportedly in a relationship with another woman.
Siziba is also said to have told the villagers that she was chased away from her home and had become homeless.
The child’s body was taken to Victoria Falls Hospital. Some villagers took pictures of hand-cuffed Siziba sitting beside the child’s beheaded corpse.
