ZVA requires $20 000 to send Keith Machakaire and Douglas Choto for the Under-23 competition next month.

Bruce Paguti, Trevor Sibanda, Christine Manyanya and Progress Gasa were members of the team that was supposed to represent the country in Poland but ZVA failed to raise funds.

Mapondera said they would continue to try and source the money to send the team for the international competition.

“We are still looking for funds to send the team to Cyprus. I do not know if we will be able to. But we are hoping that we will we be able to. We won’t give up,” he said.

Volleyball is one of the sports that has been hit hard by lack of funds with efforts to get assistance from the government through the Sport, Arts and Culture ministry coming to no avail as the ministry has indicated that it does not have the money to assist the teams.

The Zimbabwe beach volleyball team failed to travel to Ghana for the Youth Olympic qualifiers that were pencilled for April 10 due to financial constraints.
