ZANU PF national chairperson and senior minister Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday launched a booklet entitled Unity and Honour: 22 December 2013, which is a collection of speeches honouring the late Vice-President Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo.

President Robert Mugabe officiated at the renaming of Main Street to Joshua Nkomo Street, the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport and the unveiling of the giant nationalist’s statue on December 22 last year.
The booklet was compiled and edited by National University of Science and Technology public relations officer Felix Moyo.
Speaking at the event held at the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Museum at Matsheumhlophe in Bulawayo, Khaya Moyo said the booklet was a compilation of the speeches read at the three events where various ministers and Nkomo’s family members made presentations about the life of the legend.
“The booklet was born through circumstances originating from the experiences of 22 December when the president of Zimbabwe officiated at the three historic events in honour of the veteran leader,” he said.
“Everyone who made a presentation on that day is part of the book.
“All speeches were put together to form the booklet so that those living now and future generations would have an insight of the historic day.”

Khaya Moyo said 1 400 copies of the booklet were printed and would be sold for $5 per copy.
He said money generated from the sales would be used to upgrade the museum.
“We managed to print 1 400 copies that will be sold for $5 a copy. The money will go to the Joshua Nkomo National Foundation which will see to it that the museum is upgraded and never falls apart,” he said.
“When these copies are all sold out, we will make more. The printing will be continuous so that everyone gets hold of this important document.”
Nkomo’s daughter Thandi Nkomo-Ebrahim said the entire country must have a copy of the booklet. She said Nkomo was a present to the nation and more would be done for him.
Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment minister Francis Nhema and Bulawayo Provincial Affairs minister Eunice Sandi Moyo attended the launch.
Nkomo died on July 1 1999.
