Tariro neGitare will perform at a show dubbed the #120fashion fundraiser organised by Hunnar Management Agency, which is appealing to the public to donate a $1 or more to enable the fashion designers to attend the prestigious event.

Proceeds from the charity show will bankroll expenses for three Zimbabwean fashion designers who were selected to showcase at the African Fashion Week in Toronto, Canada next month.

Sidumiso Tshuma of Shadow by S’due, Nkululeko Ncube of Rebellious Klothing and Sheenah Moyo of the label BlinQ are the three Zimbabwe representatives at the Toronto show.

Tariro told Southern Eye Lifestyle in an interview that she was excited to be performing in Bulawayo.

“I am excited about this. This is the first time I am coming alone. I once performed in Bulawayo before with Edith weUtonga and the last time with Blessing Chimanga,” she said.

“I also feel honoured to be part of this fundraising and support the cause as I believe it is important for our artists to be exposed to the international market. I promise an authentic, original and inspiring performance, a genuine in-depth expression of who Tariro neGitare is.”

Gilmore Moyo of Hunnar Management Agency said his organisation was excited to have Tariro neGitare perform in Bulawayo as part of raising funds towards the #120FashionFund.

“We want to appreciate the Bulawayo City Council, District 10, Rainbow Cinemas and everyone who has been very supportive towards this gesture to send our designers to Canada to represent Zimbabwe,” said Moyo.

“It is appropriate enough for us to do something about getting money for these talented individuals. We work with a lot of people in the creative industries and we understand how important these opportunities are, we look forward to getting support of the corporate world towards getting these funds.”

Designer garments will be auctioned from the three designers during the event, said Moyo, adding that people should come in their numbers to support the cause as well as “experience an intimate night with Zimbabwean Afro soul sensation”.

Tariro neGitare has performed at the Harare International Festival of Arts 2014, Les Acousti’Coeur Festival in Senegal. She also performed at FESTA2H, Africa’s biggest hip-hop festival in the same country on June 8 with artistes from countries such as Belgium, Brazil, Gambia, Mauritania, Senegal, Spain, Morocco, Unites States, Denmark, Switzerland and Canada.
