The mid-season signing completed a surprise return to Pure Platinum Play last week and was quickly thrown into the first team by Mutasa.

The platinum miners have been rocked by injuries with their strike force being the biggest handicapped following the departure Njabulo Ncube — injuries to Donald Ngoma and Nelson Maziwisa — prompting the richly-funded club to turn to the market to bolster their beleaguered squad.

Though the weekend derby was a game of few chances with Marere not getting a clear opportunity to score, his mentor still believes he has the attributes to be a success.

“He is a very good player. He played well in his first match and he holds play very well in the advanced positions and can create chances for others. His overall contribution to the team was very encouraging,” he said.

”He is experienced and has played in the Premier League for a very long time. He is a good addition for us and can add value to our team.

“He and Blessing (Sahondo) are now part of our family, they are quickly adapting to life here and they both have the qualities to be a success.”

Asked about the pursuit of Shabanie Mine forward Ashley Mukwenya and other targets, Mutasa opted to comment on what is already at his disposal.

“We will cross the bridge when we get there, for now let us talk of what we have,” he said.

FC Platinum have promoted young sensation Sahondo to the senior team and the young man did not disappoint on his debut, though he could have decorated the weekend duel had kept his composure to convert a last minute chance he got.
