Maphosa, aka Khan Master, has in recent years been working on improving his production skills although he started off his journey as a disc jockey.

“I used to mix other people songs and a few of my singles. I started off as a DJ, but now I have shifted my focus to the production,” he said.

Maphosa told the Southern Eye in an interview that his aim had always been about making music sound better and inspiring.

“To me it has always been about making music better and perhaps change the course of Bulawayo artists as a whole,” Maphosa said.

Khan Master has been working on his singles which will be soon out. However, he released two promo videos on YouTube directed by the famous Andy Cutta and Eliot Moyo to inspire his audience.

Maphosa has performed in Bulawayo’s night clubs like Metro-polis and Basement.

“The video to be released is titled Hard to Please. It features Thandeka Moyo.”

“We shot this video in the city centre of Bulawayo and it features structures from the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Statue and the City Hall.”

Nkosilathi Nyoni, a vocalist collaborating with Khan Master, said he met Khan Master in 2012 where he listened to his music and that’s when Maphosa filled him with his vision of rocking Bulawayo.

“I had the same passion for music and we decided to work together. We would meet up and produce music beats together,” Nyoni said.

“Our first long break came when we recorded a song called Nhai Mwari with a girl called Rumbidzai. We distributed the song to the people who gave us a positive feedback,” he added.

“From then we made a pact never to turn back.”

Khan Master said his aim and vision was to get out and prove to haters that Bulawayo is multi-talented. They are taking music to a totally different dimension.
