Club vice-chairman Sydney Madzvimbo yesterday said it is still game on as Technosphere, Tsholotsho FC, Plumtree Chiefs and Ntabazinduna Prison were in contention for the sole ticket to the country’s top-flight football action.

With the police side leading the pack with 42 points from 21 matches and remaining with tough encounters against Tsholotsho, Mpumalanga and Ntabazinduna after Old Nic Mine, Madzvimbo would not dare talk about the championship.

“Old Nic Mine is going to be one of our toughest matches of them all. They are fighting relegation and we are going to treat the game cautiously and we are not going to undermine them. Last season we were in contention and we just lost form towards the end,” Madzvimbo said.

They have leading goalscorer Simon Njeleza in the squad and are coached by virtually unknown Kudzai Mututa. Last week, the police side was away in Victoria Falls where they beat Trumus 2-0 with goals from James Phiri and Stanley Ngala.

On the second spot is Technosphere with 39 points from 20 games and last week they beat Ntabazinduna 4-2 in Hwange with goals coming from a brace by Artwell Nyoni, Ray Masusu and Gift Mbweti.

Tomorrow they will clash with Quelaton back in Hwange. Tsholotsho FC on 39 points from 20 games will be home to Elephants FC after beating Old Nic Mine 3-0 last week with Edmore Chirambadare grabbing a brace and the third goal coming from Lynoth Chikukwa.

Last year’s champions Plumtree Chiefs with 37 points will be away in Hwange against Mpumalanga tomorrow while Ntabazinduna also with 37 points will be in Hwange too for a date with Hwange Juniors.

ZPC Hwange with 35 points host New West City in the coal mining town. All the matches will now be played simultaneously to guard against match-fixing.

Fixtures Tomorrow: Tsholotsho v Elephants (Tsholotsho), Black Boots v Old Nic Mine (Fairbridge), Technosphere v Quelaton (Hwange), Portland Cement v Trumus (cancelled), Hwange Juniors v Ntabazinduna (Hwange), Mpumalanga v Plumtree Chiefs (Hwange), ZPC Hwange v New West City (Hwange)
