Bulawayo bodybuilders will meet at a local gym tomorrow where 10 will be selected.

Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Bodybuilding and Fitness Association chairperson John Mhangwa confirmed the competition.

“The Mr Zimbabwe Bodybuilding Competition will be held in Harare next week. We did not want a situation where we just picked bodybuilders who would represent us without having a competition. That is the reason why we are having the competition on Saturday (tomorrow),” he said.

Expected to turn up are Mike Alimu (heavyweight), Lovemore Mnyamana (lightweight), Confidence Mpala (junior), John Lunga (middleweight) and Shingi Gowora in the middleweight category.

“Everyone wants to go to Harare so this is likely to make the competition more exciting. Alimu came second in the light heavyweight category last year. Mnyamana came second in the lightweight section while Mpala was third in the juniors category. So we are hoping that they would surpass those achievements,” he said.

The local bodybuilders will have to be at their best to outclass their opponents from outside the city of Bulawayo.
