This is the ninth food outlet the rapidly growing chain has opened countrywide and plans are afoot to open more outlets in other centres.

Chicken Slice group chief executive officer Tawanda Mutyebere told Southern Eye Business yesterday that plans were already at an advanced stage to open shops in Gweru, Kwekwe, Masvingo and Mutare.

Mutyebere said Chicken Slice would ensure that the local market was fully serviced at all times.

“Within two years we are targeting to have opened shops in all of our major cities in the country,” he said.

“At the moment we are working on the Gweru branch that is under construction. We are here to offer Bulawayo people good services and we are not competing with anyone.

Mutyebere said Chicken Slice currently employs more than 1 000 people since it opened its first outlet in 2010 in Mvuma along the busy Harare-Masvingo Highway. The brand comprises Chicken Slice, Pizza Slice, Creamy Slice and Slice Express.

The opening of the Bulawayo outlet is likely to increase competition in the sector that has long been largely dominated by Innscor through Chicken Inn, Creamy Inn, Pizza Inn and Bakers Inn brands.

Mutyebere, who is an accomplished musician, has bagged a number of awards, including the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce entrepreneur of the year, the Regional Customer Service Excellence award under the Zimbabwe Institute of Management last year and the Standards Association of Zimbabwe excellent service award.
