Matches were not played last weekend to make way for the Sevens Summer Series and this weekend all matches will be played at different venues.

Since the National Rugby League failed to secure sponsorship, the league was divided into two, the northern region and the southern region.

The northern region features Old Georgians, Old Hararians, Harare Sports Club and Mutare Sports Club which were part of the National Rugby League.

Old Miltonians, Matabeleland Busters, Western Panthers, Zvishavane Bulls, Airforce, Midlands State University, Gweru Sports Club and Bulldogs are in the southern league.

This weekend Busters will take on Panthers with Old Miltonians playing Bulldogs both at Hartsfield while in Zvishavane, the Zvishavane Bulls will play Airforce and Gweru Sports Club take on Midlands State University in Gweru.

“We were supposed to start the league last weekend, but it was postponed. This week we will play Panthers and Old Miltonians will play Bulldogs,” Busters coach Ruben Kumpasa said.

He said: “people are hungry to play rugby and any form of rugby that comes our way is much appreciated. It is a good step towards development. All teams should be playing this weekend.”

Last season not much rugby was played as the NRL who were meant to fund the teams’ trips failed to secure sponsorship and the league ended prematurely.
