CIVIL SERVANTS in Bulawayo have reportedly gone for months without receiving pay slips amid reports that there was no vehicle to collect them from Salaries Service Bureau (SSB) in Harare.

In the past several months schools in Bulawayo have reportedly been contributing money towards the transportation of pay slips from Harare.
Stephen Ndlela, a government employee based at Mhlahlandlela Government Complex said senior government officials travelled to Harare almost on a weekly basis, but did not collect pay slips from SSB, sighting fuel problems.
“Senior people in the government do not collect pay slips despite travelling regularly to Harare.
They say they do not have fuel for that task and some say it is not their duty to do so.
We have gone for months without receiving pay slips and some of us resort to check through our mobile phones for any salary deposits.
It’s unfortunate for those who are not linked to banks for e-banking or sms-banking,” Ndlela said.

Bulawayo region Education director Den Moyo rubbished the claims saying teachers always got pay slips on time. He said payslips were sent from Harare two weeks before pay day.
“That is a lie. We send a vehicle two weeks before pay day to Harare to collect pay slips and teachers get them on time. I got mine on Monday and they must have got theirs by Tuesday depending on their stations,” he said.
