Dave Ncube told NewsDay that those claiming Tshanda has been banned in the country should bring proof and show how and by whom.

“Those who are saying Tshanda was banned are the ones who are habitual liars and as Sekunjalo we are following all the correct procedures and that is why we have sent our papers for clearance in Harare,” Ncube said.

“The reason why the show was moved from Saturday in Bulawayo is that there is another regional act and that is why our dates had to change. Moreover, the Harare gig that was slated for August 29 was moved to September 5 because on the same day there will an international act featuring Toni Braxton and Baby Face.”

Ncube further said those behind the claims did not bother to confirm with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) on whether Tshanda is banned or not.

“As far as we are concerned we are shocked to hear that the NACZ is banning artistes. Is the arts council a court? We have been dealing with them from the time we started talking about this show and they have assisted us on a number of issues including the changing of dates,” he said.

Tshanda said reports describing him as a crook are lies, saying promoters of his last show (Lusatte) were to blame for his failure to perform in Zimbabwe last year.

“I think I explained myself about the problems with this promoter of Lussatte, it’s that he sent money to us as a stable on the morning of the day of the show and he expected us to travel on the same day and I told him that it’s impossible because I have to group all members in the stable,” he said.

However, Tshanda said he will be coming to rock in Bulawayo and Harare and promised fans “entertainment of high quality”.
