The two party wings have accused Misihairabwi-Mushonga of seeking to destroy the opposition party by engineering the mass resignation of senior members, fuelling divisions and discord.
In a statement, MDC women’s assembly boss, Thandiwe Mlilo accused Misihairabwi-Mushonga of failing to represent the party’s interests in Parliament.
“The assembly has noted with disappointment that the former secretary-general has departed from the values and ideals of the party as evidenced by her mischievous machinations to try and destroy the party over the past few months,” Mlilo said.
“We believe that not ejecting her will prove injurious to the party’s progress as we move forward. We are convinced beyond doubt that Misihairabwi-Mushonga is the chief architect of disturbances in the party, including choreographed media resignations in recent months, and we find it unconscionable that the party continues to allow her to get away with it.”
On Sunday, party youths told journalists in Harare that they were planning to pressure their leader Welshman Ncube to recall Misihairabwi-Mushonga from Parliament.
