TWELVE Zimbabwean national male’s para-volley team selected from the Northern and Southern Regions are set to represent the country in the African Sitting Volleyball Championships set for Kenya from July 1-10, 2025.
The selection tournament was held at King George VI Memorial School in Bulawayo.
President of ParaVolley Zimbabwe, who is also ParaVolley Africa secretary-general, Oripa Mubika, announced the team.
Mubika expressed confidence that the team will do well in the East African country, bring favourable results and also raise awareness of the sport as well as the capabilities of people living with disabilities.
“It is a privilege and an honour to select a team that will represent our beloved country at the highest level,” he said.
“This is not an opportunity to showcase Zimbabwean talent, promote inclusion and raise the national flag with pride.”
Added Mubika: “The squad is expected to compete fiercely and promote the growth of paravolley both within Zimbabwe and across the region.
“With the support of the Sports ministry and various stakeholders, hopes are high that the team will leave a lasting impact and inspire more youth to take up the sport.”
