A 23-year-old Zvishavane man has been jailed for 10 years for raping a 17-year-old mentally challenged girl.

Givemore Moyo of Village Mhike, Chief Mazvihwa dragged the complainant to the hills before raping her once.
Regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire sentenced Moyo to 10 years in prison, but suspended two years for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Moyo will serve an effective eight years after a psychiatrist, who examined the girl found that she was mentally challenged and incapable of consensual sex.
The magistrate heard that on March 27 2011 the accused person approached the complainant, who was watering vegetables at her mother’s homestead.
The accused proposed love to the complainant, but she turned him down.
Moyo left the scene, but returned a few hours later and grabbed the complainant, dragging her to the nearby hills and raped her

When the complainant heard her mother calling her name from a distance, she managed to push the accused and put on her skirt before she ran to her mother’s direction holding her undergarments in her hands.
