BINGA resident magistrate Stephen Ndlovu has ordered the destruction of a mobile phone and a memory card containing pornographic videos before sentencing its owner to three months in jail for possessing the illicit nude pictures.

Report by Silas Nkala

Lee Mudimba (31) of Crocodile Farm in Binga, who was already serving a three-month jail term for bribery, pleaded guilty to possession of pornographic videos when he appeared before Ndlovu.

However, Mudimba was convicted and sentenced to three months in jail with an option of a $50 fine. The magistrate also ordered that the mobile phone, a Nokia X2 and a memory card be forfeited to the State and destroyed.

When asked why he possessed such material, Mudimba said: “I just kept them for personal watching. I did not know that it is a crime to possess them.”

Mudimba had been earlier sentenced to three months in jail for trying to bribe the detectives who arrested him when he was found with a cellphone containing 18 pornographic videos.

Prosecutor David Never Shiku told the court that on May 31 at 8pm detectives who were on patrol were tipped that Mudimba had an array of pornographic videos in his mobile phone. They raided him while at Kulwa beer garden.

After searching him, he was found with the Nokia X2 which contained 18 pornographic videos.

This led to his arrest. During his arrest he tried to bribe the detectives which further led him being charged with bribery.
