Sam Malete, script writer and film director, confirmed the developments to Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday. “We are trying to get as much raw talent in the city and everyone is invited for auditions which started last Sunday. The audition will be held every Sunday,” Malete said.

The sitcom is about a middle-aged man who discovers that he has a daughter when he goes for introductions at his fiancé’s place.

“The first audition was successful and more than 50 people attended including familiar characters like Snake from Amakorokoza,” Malete said, adding that the producers were looking for actors and actresses with talent and passion for acting.

The directors are looking for at least 100 characters and auditions are open to people aged between 16 and 90 years. “Bulawayo must come and be part of this act and let’s do it for our city.

I thought of doing this when I was in Harare where I saw how people there represent their city and how they support their arts and I feel as Bulawayo, we should do the same and better,” Malete added.

Malete was part of the popular sitcom King’s Kraal  where he acted as Shakes. He also featured in the reality show produced by ZBC/TV titled The Medallion Hunt  which is yet to be released.
