HARARE — Zimbabwe’s consumer inflation rose marginally to 0,41% on an annualised basis in August, from 0,33% in July, Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (Zimstat) figures said on Friday.

“The month on month inflation rate for the month also rose, gaining 0,22 percentage points on the December 2013 rate of -0,08 to 0,14%,” Zimstat said.

The increase does not deflect fears of deflation, analysts said, noting that there was no noticeable increase in economic activity.

“It is just prices going up, with no relevance to economic activity,” said an economist.
