The victim sustained some burns and internal injuries.

Edmore Dube (31), a feeder at the mine, was not asked to plead to an assault charge when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Takundwa Witness Mtetwa sitting at the Mbembesi Circuit Court and was remanded in custody to tomorrow.

The court heard that on February 7, Dube went to security guard Marko Ntani (30)’s place at the mine compound where he took him from his tent and assaulted him with a log all over the body over an unspecified issue.

He then threw Ntani into a fire where he sustained serious burns on the right hand, left cheek and on the head. He also suffered internal injuries as he complained of pain in his ribs.
