Leroy Nkabinde Maplanka (59) pleaded guilty to the charge of contravening Section 29 (1) (a) of the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act Chapter 15:03 when he appeared before Bulawayo senior magistrate Gladmore Mushove.

Failure to pay $200 would see him being incarcerated for 45 days.

All the medical drugs he was found in possession of were confiscated by the State.

The court heard that on February 8 this year, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department Drugs and Narcotics unit in Bulawayo were tipped that Maplanka was dealing in medical drugs without a licence.

They conducted surveillance on him and saw him coming out of his residence entering his vehicle.

They stopped him and searched his house where they recovered 10x200grammes/100ml Ciprofloxaun injections, 2x 50mili grams Syrup, two Wagra Sildenfill tablets, 3x100mg Kamagra Sildenfill tablets, 1x50mg satchet of Kamagra Sildenfill oral jelly, 66x25mg Indomethacin Capsules tablets, 19x25mg Indomin Capsules tablets, which were not registered medicines with the Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe.
