Arnold Nyamayaro of Mutake village in Goromonzi appeared before Hwange provincial magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa and pleaded guilty to culpable homicide.
The court was told that on July 9 2013 at around 10pm, Nyamayaro was driving a haulage truck along the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Highway carrying goods from South Africa.
When he approached the 284km peg, he came across another truck that had broken down on a steep slope and cars ahead were moving slowly due to the road blockage.
Nyamayaro overtook all the cars on the blind side and rammed into the broken down truck hitting the driver Simbarashe Masanu (41), who died on the spot.
The two trucks caught fire leading to the burning of a third truck, which had stopped due to the blockage.
Several people were severely burnt by the fire, including Nyamayaro, who was admitted to Hwange Hospital.
