MDC-T Bulawayo provincial organising secretary Albert Mhlanga said the district elections would be supervised by provincial and national officials as dictated by the party’s constitution.

Mhlanga said issues pertaining to interference by some national officials that were causing chaos had now been clarified.

“We are ready to conduct our district elections in Bulawayo province. I know elections in these districts have been cancelled several times due to interference by certain members at national level trying to impose their people, but we have now managed to solve that,” Mhlanga said.

He said soon after the district elections, they will elect provincial members ahead of the national congress that will be held next month.

“After Sunday’s elections, we will sit down and conduct our provincial elections and fill all vacant posts. From there we would prepare ourselves for national positions at congress next month,” he said.

Mhlanga said members that would be elected during the district and provincial elections should be respected by the party and not imposed on structures as that had resulted in most party members defecting from the party.
