Generations goes off screen

“We have a very different storyline. We are not going back,” Mfundi Vundla

JOHANNESBURG — Following reports that the most watched soapie, Generations, is fast running out of recorded shows and there are currently no recordings taking place, the soapie will go off-screen as from Wednesday October 1 and the fast growing Skeem Saam will play on it’s slot.

According to DRUM Magazine SABC’s spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago revealed that instead of Generations at 8pm weekdays, viewers will watch Season 3 of Skeem Saam.

The changes came after 16 actors’ were fired by Mfundi Vundla’s company MMSV Productions which produces the soapie.

Kganyago said Generations will take a break for two months while the producers are revamping the soapie.

Skeem Saam was changed from a drama series into a soapie, just few months ago.

Generations’ producer, Vundla has vowed that he will not take the fired actors back.

Kganyago said SABC was aware of the effects on their ratings. He was adamant that viewers will get used to it.

He is qouted as saying: “The only challenge is if Skeem Saam gives us more viewers and then Generations comes back, but we will see.”

The Generations repeat slot on SABC 3 at 10:30am will be replaced by Muvhango.
