A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Zhukwi village allegedly hanged himself last week following claims that he had impregnated a cousin who attends a secondary school in Gwanda North. SAKHILE MOYO OWN CORRESPONDENT
The incident was confirmed by Matabeleland South acting police spokesperson Sergeant Thabani Mkhwananzi, who identified the deceased as Charles Sibanda.
Mkhwananzi said Sibanda hanged himself at around 2am, about 200m away from his homestead.
“The body was found hanging from a tree on the same day in the morning by the headman,” he said.
“Zhukwi villagers indicated that a few days before Sibanda committed suicide, there were talks from close relatives that he had impregnated his cousin (name withheld).”
Mkhwananzi said investigations were in progress to establish the real reason why he had committed suicide.
