THE Nationals Association for Primary School Heads (Naph) in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Rugby Union are set to host an Under-14 tournament at Hartsfield Rugby Ground tomorrow.
Five districts from Bulawayo — Imbizo, Reigate, Khami, Mzilikazi and Bulawayo Central will compete in the tournament.
“The tournament will be held as part of development of the sport,” said George Mukorera, the ZRU provincial development officer.
“The five districts will bring two select teams each. This is a grassroot development programme and we need to look for sponsorship for it so it continues next year.
“We are happy that we have come up with this initiative. We hope that it will be included in schools. In the past it was just football, volleyball, basketball and netball. We are hoping that we will also come up with a league and in future a national tournament where we will play against other provinces.”
The Under-14 players will also get a chance to play in the annual Lou Corbi Rugby festival.
