Sports and Recreation Commission community sports development officer Martin Dururu confirmed that they had been cancelled.
“The Yes games have been cancelled this year to pave way for the Region 5 Games. Yes games are usually in December but because we did not want them to clash with the Region 5 Games and everybody is working towards the regional games they (Yes) had to be cancelled,” Dururu said.
He added that most of the volunteers in the country’s 10 provinces would be concentrating on helping with the preparations for the Region 5 Games.
Participants at the Yes games compete in three categories sport, per education and community projects.
The Yes Games are a test on the strength and weakness for the province hosting the Zimbabwe National Youth Games the next year.
Dururu said provincial competitions will still go ahead in the different areas.
