This came to light when Wendy Goremucheche (20) and Ayanda Gumede (20) appeared in court facing charges of assaulting Brighton Mapfumo (29) of the same neighbourhood.
They appeared before Western Commonage provincial magistrate Willard Mafios Moyo. They pleaded guilty to the charge and were remanded in custody to December 29 for sentencing.
In their defence, both claimed they were under the influence of alcohol and would not have done that if they had been sober.
Goremucheche denied stabbing Mapfumo saying she only assaulted him using palms and fists while Gumede took out an okapi knife and stabbed him three times, once in the head and twice in the chest.
Prosecuting, Mufaro Mageza told the court that on that fateful night, the two girls got drunk earlier and started causing trouble at the bar threatening to kill anyone who messed around with them.
A few hours later, the two reportedly approached Mapfumo and asked him to buy them beer, but he refused, saying he did not buy beer for sex workers.

“They came to me asking for beer. I told them I had never bought beer for sex workers. They immediately took out a knife and stabbed me in the head and I fell down. After that the other lady took the knife and stabbed me twice in the chest, that is when I passed out.”
Thinking they had murdered him, the two tried to flee, but were caught by Dumisani Dube, a security guard at the bar. “I went closer to see what was happening then I noticed these women had stabbed a man who was at that time unconscious I then noticed they were making signs to each intending to flee and I immediately apprehended them and handed them over to the police,” Dube said.
