SABC cancels pastor Zondo on Ukhozi FM

The SABC on Monday said it would no longer schedule pastor Sithembiso Zondo on Ukhozi FM’s breakfast show Vuka Motivation.

JOHANNESBURG — The SABC on Monday said it would no longer schedule pastor Sithembiso Zondo on Ukhozi FM’s breakfast show Vuka Motivation.

“This follows the unfortunate incident of the release to the public of a video and photos purported to be of Zondo in a compromising position,” spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said in a statement.

He said the decision was taken in accordance with Ukhozi FM’s brand as well as that of the SABC.

“The decision was taken following careful consideration, as to the negative impact this situation would have on the credibility of the said programme the pastor was contributing to, as it deals with morality issues.”

The Daily Sun reported last week that a video had surfaced of Zondo naked, talking on his cellphone. It appeared to have been filmed by a woman in a pink skirt.

Meanwhile, Zondo told his Zero to Hero Church congregants that he had been worried about the video as he was apparently blackmailed by people who had it in their possession.

The video shows a nude Zondo walking around his house and was filmed by a mystery woman. Zondo is married.

According to New Age, a visibly emotional Zondo told members of his church to keep the video and not delete it.

“Those who have the video of me, don’t delete it,” he said.

“To those who have deleted the video from your phones let the memory of the video be engraved in your minds so that when you are faced with tough situations you would remember that there was once a person whose entire body was exposed to the world and yet they did not commit suicide, but they got back up.”

“The pain I went through after the video had been released, was nothing compared to the pain I felt when I was being threatened about it, before it had been released.” – New Age/Sapa
