Florence Yobe (46) pleaded not guilty to the charges of assaulting Ruvarashe Chikonde (46) and accusations of theft when she appeared before magistrate Judith Taruvinga. The trial date was set for March 26, with Daniel Tafuma prosecuting.

Tafuma told the court that on February 18 2015, at 134 Somabula, Yobe approached Chikonde’s residence around 8pm and knocked on the door, but did not get a response.

Yobe allegedly forcefully gained entry into the house, approached Chikonde and tried to attack her with a knife, which the complainant managed to block.

During the commotion, Yobe overpowered the complainant and got on top of Chikonde and bit her on the left eye. Yobe stole a Vodafone and two Dubai cellphones valued at $75 and $20 cash, and left the premises and none of the stolen goods were recovered.

Chikonde was examined by a medical doctor and the medical report will be produced as evidence during trial.
