MITCHELLE Katsvairo’s brace ensured Chicken Inn sailed past Hwange and straight to the second round of the Chibuku Super Cup when the two teams met at Luveve yesterday.
Katsvairo scored first in the 54th minute after they were awarded a penalty by referee Nduna Nkosana in the 49th minute.
Hwange players protested the decision, but decided to resume play after five minutes of stoppage. His second goal came at the stroke of full time when he took advantage of a defensive slip to release a shot which beat Hwange goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya, and booking a place in the next round of the competition.
Hwange coach Nation Dube was none too pleased with the referee’s decision to award the home side a penalty, saying it had affected his players psychologically.
“They have to do something about the refereeing. Chasing back is very difficult because from the first goal, my boys were demoralised and the damage had already been done. I am not happy with a game that we lost. We did not play our normal game,” Dube said.
Chicken Inn gaffer Joey Antipas said: “It was a typical Cup game, not much space given to both teams. They closed down performance and there was no time or room for individual performance. It was a physical game.”
