The suspects, Dalokuhle Sibanda alias Thabani (25), Evans Moyo alias Mareza (32) and Methuli Nyathi (29), were not asked to plead to the robbery charge when they appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Evelyn Mashavakure last Thursday.

They were remanded in custody to August 5 for trial.

The court heard that on July 22, the trio stormed Nevada General Dealer shop on the outskirts of the city and demanded cash from the attendant, Shumbei Zhou and security guard, Andreck Mlalazi, at knife point.

Mlalazi was allegedly stabbed several times on both hands, as he wrestled with the suspects, before he was overpowered and handcuffed.

The suspects then turned on Zhou, robbed her of her mobile phone worth $150, before force marching her into the shop, where they stole grocery and cash all worth $570.

After the robbery, they vanished into the night. A report made to the police led to their arrest.
