We have nothing to hide - TTI

A company that was awarded a vehicle parking management tender in Bulawayo under controversial circumstances says it has nothing to hide because the contract was above board.

Trendy Tree Investments (TTI) executive chairperson, Lizwe Mabuza, said this in response to reports that incoming councillors are pushing for a review of the controversial tender.

Some residents have staged protests against the Bulawayo City Council demanding that the tender be cancelled.

There has been public outcry surrounding the awarding of tenders in the city with the most recent being TTI for vehicle parking management.

Reports indicate that TTI bribed councilors in the previous council to award them the tender.

There were also reports that TTI executives had bribed the incoming councillors to endorse the tender.

Mabuza, however, said their contract was above board, adding that they had no interest in politics.

“We have nothing to hide. Our tender was above and awarded at Local Government ministry level,” Mabuza said.

“We have no interest in politics and the elections to choose a new mayor.

“We have no business bribing people on who should be the new mayor.

Former Education minister David Coltart is tipped to be the next Bulawayo mayor after he was endorsed by Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader, Nelson Chamisa.

Bulawayo councillors will vote for a new mayor on Monday.

“We are going to support whoever gets elected to be the new mayor,” Mauza said.

“Personally, I think Coltart is the best man for the job.

“As such, we cannot be seen to be bribing the incoming councillors to choose a mayor that will fail Bulawayo.

“We should not defend mediocrity.”
