Brian Rwafa, 39, was facing six counts of robbery and rape.

A suspected serial robber and rapist was denied bail when he appeared before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei on Friday facing multiple charges.

Brian Rwafa, 39, was facing six counts of robbery and rape.

Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti alleged that Rwafa went on a crime spree between September 2023 and March 5 this year.

According to court documents, Rwafa operated in Bluffhill, Westgate and Madokero and would target women who were either walking alone or with their children.

In one count, Rwafa allegedly waylaid one of his victims who was on her way home from work, grabbed her by the neck and took US$20 and a small Itel cellphone.

He then dragged the complainant to a nearby bushy area and raped her.

Rwafa is also said to have raped a woman whom he met while she was on her way to visit a friend at the Westgate 24hour hospital.

Rwafa was remanded in custody to March 21 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
