IN an epic battle, Christian Brothers College (CBC) from Bulawayo won the coveted Super 12’s schoolboy hockey tournament held over the weekend when they defeated highly fancied St George’s in a tense tussle in the final.

The sides could not be separated in regulation time with the match ending 0-0.

Both goalkeepers Yovern Silver of CBC and M Sean of St George’s were outstanding, but in the shootout that followed it was the CBC goal minder Silver whose goal was not breached as he emerged as the golden hero after his side went on to win 2-0.

It was a historic first ever win in the annual tournament for the Skulls, as the Bulawayo-based schoolboy side are popularly known as, and followed their highly commendable second place finish last year.

Their coach Tatenda Kanyangarara created his own place in the history books by becoming the first in the history of the competition to win the tournament as both a player and a coach.
