Southern Eye gives you a live report on the MDC-T  rally in Kotwa, Mudzi North constituency where the party leader Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai is set to address people.

15:51-Tsvangirai:Only 150 000 workers in sectors other than civil service shows the high level of unemployment.

15:47-Tsvangirai says an equitable distribution of wealth will ensure better remuneration for civil society.

13:49 –  Zanu  PF youths gathered at the ‘Corner Store’ in Mutoko.

13:31 – Some of the Zanu PF supporters are ‘waiting’ some 400 metres from where Tsvangirai is addressing people.

13:28 – Tsvangirai ends his address and  is to head for Uzumba as bystanders listen to the address from a safe distance.

13:26-He says there will be free access to cancer medication and ARVs.

13:21 – He says Mugabe’s recent appointment of judges is meant to protect him after the polls.

13:33-Tsvangirai says most of those who fled to the MDC-T headquarters during the 2008 violence were from Mashonaland East.

13:30 – Tsvangirai says Zanu PF’s name calling shows Zanu PF’s ‘emptiness’.

13:25 –  Tsvangirai says he will summon Chiefs and traditional leaders to make them accountable for intimidating people.

12:50 – Tsvangirai arrives in Mutoko amid cheers.

12:48 – Zwizwai urges MDC-T polling agents to be vigilant and guard against rigging during poll day. this comes after Tsvangirai recently  said there was a Zanu PF, ZEC rigging plot.

12:44 – Information received is that Zanu PF supporters on a megaphone went around Mutoko Center early morning promising retribution to anyone who would go to the MDC-T rally.

An MDC-T official said Mutoko police took 3 hours to respond to this.

12:44 – Tsvangirai has reiterated his call for peace and that unity will conquer. He has encouraged the supporters to turn out in large numbers come July 31.

12:43 – In Mudzi, Tsvangirai thanks supporters who have been brave enough to attend the rally despite the intimidation.

12:42 – We are informed that Zanu PF supporters close to the venue have tried to disrupt the MDC-T event.

12:40 – Zwizwai does what they call a bye bye wave to President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF.

12:38 – Tracy Mutinhiri leads the prayer.

12:33 – Several hundreds of MDC-T supporters are going ahead with proceeding as  as the wait for  PM Tsvangirai’s arrival. Members of the police are present.

12:30 – In Mutoko, Zanu PF supporters are gathered a few meters from where the MDC-T rally is due to be held.

11:45 – In Murewa, Zanu PF supporters are reportedly sticking President Mugabe’s posters on top of PM Tsvangirai’s posters.

11:25 – PM Tsvangirai has arrived at the rally venue.

11:10 – The number of supporters is steadily increasing  with about 200 supporters being addressed by MDC-T National Youth Information & Publicity Secretary Clifford Hlatwayo.

11:07 – From Kotwa, the Prime Minister will go to Mutoko Center then Murehwa.

10:00 – Turn out is still very low , with about a 100 supporters, as word going around is that many might not attend as they  fear that they might be  attacked by Zanu PF supporters after the rally.
