Bulawayo Province Youth Games co-ordinator Sincengile Mzemba yesterday told Southern Eye Sport that they had released the names of the players.

“We have named the players who will represent the province in the Youth Games. We have been selecting the team in the past two months and we trimmed it down last Sunday. On Saturday we will be having a fundraising event at Milton High School because we need to get new kits and tracksuits for our teams,” she said.

“Our theme for this year’s game sis “Going for Gold” because we are expecting gold from our teams. The aim of the fundraising event will also be to advertise basketball. We have invited teams like Lords, Mavericks, Giants and Highlanders for the fundraising event. We are also hoping to give our Youth Games team practice matches,” she added.

The teams comprise players who turn out for various clubs in the Bulawayo Basketball Association League. Nkulumane High School player Bukhosi Mafu turns out for Stars at club level, Andile Chirinda (Milton, ZB Titans), Gabriel Chimboera (Gifford ZB Titans), Wazawaka Gonah (Founders, Oilers), Shaun Noble (Speciss College and Oilers) and Farai Kamufudze (Gifford, ZB Titans). The girls’ team has Nomagugu Nxumalo (Nkulumane, Giants), Makhosazana Ncube (Nkulumane), Brandina Muleya (Nkulumane, Giants), Isabel Sibanda (Girls’ College, Giants), Faith Bhebhe (Highlanders), Valerie Zulu (Northlea, Giants), Beauty Katiji (Founders) and Rufaro Ndokanga from Masiyephambili.
