INTWASA Arts Festival KoBulawayo has announced dates of this year’s event, which will run from September 24 to 29.
This event will run under the theme “Cultural Diversity”.
The theme will guide festival goers in celebrating unity of diverse genres, approaches, issues and audiences.
In an interview with Southern Eye Lifestyle, Raisedon Baya, one of the organisers, said they had made all the necessary preparations and all systems were in place.
“As organisers we are almost through in terms of preparations and we would like to inform arts lovers that in September we will be dishing out what they have been waiting for,” he said.
Baya said this year’s edition had received overwhelming support from artistes in and outside the country.
He added that the main arena will see 140 groups participating and this meant that the stage will always be filled with entertainment throughout the festival.
“We have more than 140 groups that will perform various genres of art. Among them there will be regional groups, with some of them coming from different continents,” Baya said.
“Moreover we will host 12 schools, drawn from across the country and they will showcase what they have for us,” he added.
Intwasa festival started as a community initiative. Over the years it has grown and has managed to attract various groups from in the region and other continents.
