Lock had vowed to win the doubles title soon after his semifinal defeat to Burundi’s Guy Orly Iradukunda in the singles competition on Friday.

The South Africa-based young star lived up to his promise as he combined with South Africa’s Lloyd Harris to win the doubles final 7-6 (3), 6-2 against the pair of Tunisian Aziz Dougaz and Ivory Coast’s Abdoul Karim Ouattara.

The win, however, didn’t come on a silver platter as Lock and Harris had to dig deep especially in the first set which had to be decided after a tie-breaker.

After the nervy start in the first set, there were no such worries in the second as Lock and Harris easily wrapped up the match for a deserved win.

Saturday’s doubles title was Lock’s second major piece of silverware on the ITF Junior Circuit in less than a month after he won the Wanderers ITF title in Illovo, Johannesburg, SA, recently.
