Running under the theme,  “Celebrating the Life of Our Heroes”, the gig will be held on Saturday afternoon where a number of activities have been lined up.

The celebrations are expected to end around 5pm.   Politburo member and Zanu PF losing parliamentary candidate for Makokoba, Retired Colonel Tshinga Dube, is pencilled to be the guest of honour.

Mlamuli Moyo, organiser of the show, told Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday that residents of Bulawayo should come in their numbers as a lot would be in store for them.

“Bulawayo should expect a fun-filled and educative day. Everyone is invited to come and join us in commemoration of the lives of our heroes through dance, music, poetry and plays,” Moyo said.

Local artistes who will  grace the stage include poets Mazilankatha, Thandanani dance group, Kasi Fusion, The Orthodox, comedians Zwexy and Mark Bright and Constantine Mararire, among others.

He added: “People should come to the event and witness the best of the arts in the city and also to come celebrate and learn from elders like Tshinga Dube who will be the guest of honour and will be expected to deliver a speech to the revellers.”

Mazilankatha, a poet who will be part of the performers, added his voice of the upcoming Heroes’ Day gig. “I can’t wait for the show. As a poet I will deliver acts that will not only talk of fallen heroes, but also those who are alive.

We have to honour them and not to wait for them to die,” he said.
