A total of 30 local referees will take part in the five-day course which will be officiated by former Zimbabwe top centreman Felix Tangawarima. In an interview with Southern Eye’s sister paper NewsDay Sport, Zifa vice-president Ndumiso Gumede confirmed the development.

“This is an annual event where referees are equipped with latest techniques in football. The course will be targeting every top performer around the country. “The course will start on Saturday. It will be a five-day thing and we will be expecting 30 referees, that is high performers, to take part at the course. Felix Tangawamira and Carlos Henris will be the instructors,” he said.

The course had been strategically set because this weekend there will be no Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches as the Warriors will be hosting Zambia in a rescheduled African Nations Championships final qualifier, first-leg tie at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
